Bert J. Smith, MD
Founder/CEO
Dr. Smith received both his BS and MD degrees from East Tennessee State University. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
After residency, Dr. Smith worked as a primary care provider and as a hospital medicine physician for a number of years before practicing exclusively in skilled nursing facilities. It was during this time that Dr. Smith saw the need to perform blood transfusions at the bedside in skilled nursing facilities. He recognized that too many patients were being transported to the hospital for a procedure that should ideally be done in the comfort of the patient’s own room.
Christy Smith, PhD, MSN, RN
Chief Nursing Executive
Dr. Smith received her BSN and MSN from East Tennessee State University. She worked as an oncology and pediatric intensive care nurse before working as the pediatric provider for the Johnson City Downtown Clinic with ETSU. While her husband completed his residency, Dr. Smith worked as a nurse practitioner in outpatient radiology, then transitioned to nursing education, where she taught nursing for several years while pursuing her PhD in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina.
Dr. Smith most recently served as the Director of Professional Development for Renuven Health Partners. She brings a wealth of nursing knowledge and experience to Versafusion, providing oversight of nursing services and direct patient care.
Leah O’Dell
Director of Operations
Leah received both her Undergraduate in Healthcare Leadership and Master’s in Business Administration from East Tennessee State University. She has 17 years of healthcare operations experience across several subspecialties and is passionate about process improvement that is focused on quality and customer satisfaction.
Leah oversees our business operations, financial reporting, and organizational growth.
Brooke Price
Nurse Manager
Brooke Price brings over 25 years of nursing experience to her role as Nurse Manager. She enjoys working closely with facilities to support high-quality care and help keep patients safely in-house whenever possible. Brooke focuses on fostering a positive, high-performing work environment while leading continuous quality improvement initiatives. She collaborates with clinical and administrative teams to implement best practices, analyze performance data to improve patient outcomes, and develop programs that enhance employee satisfaction, recognition, and retention.
Tina Ison
Accounting Manager
Tina joined our team in February 2025 as our Accounting Manager. She has a BBA in Accounting and MS in Leadership and Organizational Management. She has been in the finance industry for 20 years in the corporate and nonprofit sectors. She lives in Kingsport with her husband and son.
Robbie Massengill, RN
Infusion Nurse
Robbie serves the Tricities area of Northeast TN and VA as an infusion nurse. She has extensive nursing experience in skilled nursing and long-term care settings. Her most recent work experience was in the ICU.

Infusion Nurse
Laura serves as the infusion nurse for the Knoxville area market. She has extensive nursing experience including skilled nursing and long-term care settings.

PRN Infusion Nurse
Christina is a Registered Nurse who serves in the Tri-Cities market. Her experience includes med-surg and dialysis, and she especially enjoys working with the geriatric population.

Claudia is a Registered Nurse who serves in the Knoxville market. She has over 25 years of nursing experience, with a primary concentration in infusion services.
